You may have heard from a little bird (or my headline) that I am a flight attendant. My love for travel is so dear to me that I did whatever I could to make it my career. If I made a list of the top things I crave in life, travel would be my #1.
I started my job in Chicago flying domestically. I loved where I lived, I mean loved–Chicago is so incredible and dynamic and I still consider myself a Chicagoan, but I needed more travel in my life, specifically international travel. So I picked up and moved to New York (b*tch you live in Jersey, don’t lie), and my life going back and fourth from the U.S. to Europe to Asia and back again has begun.
In university I studied abroad a spring semester in London. It was the best time of my life. I fell head over heels in love with London, I made lifelong friends, and I still wish I could wake up there every morning. The following summer I went to the South of France to work on my minor (and, let’s be honest, my tan). I still think, “Seriously, the South of France in summer? That is so chic.” It was another study abroad experience that feels a bit like a dream because that’s kind of what it was.
I am a full-blown advocate for studying abroad and traveling. I don’t think people realize they love travel as much as they do unless they actually go out and do it. I don’t think you know who you are until you spend a little time alone in a foreign place: just you and your thoughts. It doesn’t have to be another country by any means, but stepping out of your comfort zone every once in awhile is so important. My life has changed dramatically and absolutely for the better ever since I started revolving my decisions around travel. I’ve figured out who I am and I’ve discovered my passions and meaning in life.
I urge you to take a risk and focus on doing something you, just you, want to do. Just for you and no one else. It may not be travel, but if you can learn anything from me, it is to follow your passions. Being happy with your life is essential, and no high-paying job or comfortable and safe lifestyle will fulfill you as much as stepping away from convenience and doing something you are incredibly passionate about.
I have more travel stories and nightmares, moments of clarity, life realizations, advice on going to new places, and ideas for adventure than I can think of for you. Keep updated on my blog posts for more and feel free to search for the keyword “travel” to find my travel-related content–you won’t run out of reading material!
